Buzz stumbles upon a dead body in a hotel bathtub on his first day of duty as a reserve officer, possibly spoiling the unit's Fourth of July plans to go to a Dodgers' game. Rusty needs help to get the password code for Alice's voice mail.
During his first drive-along as a Reserve Officer, Buzz Watson discovers a dead body in a hotel room bathtub, not only threatening an extremely expensive wedding, but also Flynn and Provenza's plans to take the division to a Fourth of July Dodgers' game.
Just admitted to the LAPD reserve, officer Buzz proudly demonstrates his up-to-date training on patrol with Provenza and Flynn, whose amusement turns into unease as his by the book responses compromise the team's collective plans for the 4 July baseball mirth. The domestic fight between contractor Stu Sloan and his spoiled wife no longer seems insignificant as they are the parents of the initially missing, airhead bride of Brad Pearson, heir of a perfectly matched building materials firm, whose hectic best man Danny Egan's corpse is found in the bathtub in a nearby hotel room. While trainee reporter Rusty wrestles with access to a cellphone, the pro team gets confirmation it was murder, even multiple attempts, and looks into family and other tensions involving various wedding guests, struck by Stu's stubborn focus on going on with the lavishly expensive wedding (and merger?) at all cost.
