Suffering heavy losses, Barry wrestles with the notion that he needs the palace's support to survive. As paranoia builds within Jamal, he questions where Rami's loyalty lies. Stricken by Abdul's death, Sammy plans to give his money to insurgents fighting the Army of the Caliphate.
The battle in Ma'an is intensifying, with the name Khalil becoming more well known within all circles as the leader of the insurgents. With Samira's death, Ihab vows revenge, while Barry feels the need to confess to Fauzi about what happened. Although Rami has ordered that there be no civilian casualties in the targets hit in Ma'an, the government forces, without credible intelligence, are hitting the insurgents rather than the Caliphate. Fighting one devil at a time, Barry knows he has to get Rami on his side to defeat the Caliphate. However both getting in touch with Rami and convincing Rami of what is happening in Ma'an may be more difficult than he wants. Barry ends up with a couple of other difficult decisions, one with regard to who is an accepted casualty in the fight against the Caliphate, the other with regard to funding their fight. While Molly and Jimmy try to figure out what is happening in their personal relationship as they get set to head back to the States, Molly hears from Sammy about his alternate plans which delays that transatlantic trip. Jamal is feeling more and more guilty about being the cause of the current state of Abuddin. And Leila makes a decision about Ahmed and Nusrat's lives.
