Dana Vespoli uses this edition of her self-indulgent series for plenty of navel-gazing as well as reminiscing. Taking the Diary aspect a bit literally she chats with 3 co-stars about sexual exploits in their past, including common experiences. The fourth guest is a newcomer, whose comments are almost nonexistent, Vespoli merely using her forum as usual as a chance to meet (and hump) new people.
Besides that obvious perk as porn star and filmmaker, she notes that she got into the business due to the freedom it offers: to express oneself sexually and the self-discovery that results. Problem with these videos is that her personal and at times overly personal life is not interesting, merely because of her fixation in these projects on sex, sex, and more sex, as if that topic were the only one in existence. Of course this is porn for the masses, but her narrative films are creative, excellent and ongoing, mainly for other labels like Mile High rather than Buttman's Evil Angel, so these fake documentaries are a waste of time.
That brings up the central fallacy of the series and Dana's approach, one dating back to the invention of cinema verite for documentaries many decades ago. She and her talent are sex performers, performing for the camera, and so the sex in this DVD is anything but real. Even the moans and groans of passion sound just as fake as in any generic porn movie or latter-day gonzo exercise.
Dana points to bruises and bite marks suffered during her Erik Everhard episode, as if proof that the scene was "real". Similarly, her gushy session with Francesca Le is more Inside Baseball in its concentration on directing sex videos, while with Chanel Preston her in depth (pun definitely intended) discussion of the art of anal sex and her own particular fetish for jamming objects up her rear end verges on proselytizing to win converts to the altar of butt worship (certainly pleasing to her boss, Buttman himself).
