Storyline

Ventriloquist Uncle Mirth invites his brothers George and Mortimer, Father Brown and others to a party but they find themselves in a derelict building with no apparent exit. George and Mortimer are killed and it would appear that Uncle Mirth wants revenge on those who had him committed to an insane asylum two years earlier. The survivors escape but Father Brown suspects that one of their number may be in league with, or manipulating, Uncle Mirth for their own ends. Written by don @ minifie-1

The Crackpot of the Empire

An enjoyable and intriguing episode as bodies pile up in a twisted game. Ventriloquist Uncle Mirth known for his dark humour was sectioned several years earlier with the aid of Father Brown.

Now released back to the community, he has thrown a party in a derelict building with no apparent exit and invited friends, family and Father Brown.

Uncle Mirth brothers George and Mortimer are soon killed and it seems Uncle Mirth is getting revenge. Father Brown thinks something more is involved than simple revenge and there was the case of their long lost sister.

There is a scene where Inspector Mallory has to break into the building to help save Mrs McCarthy rather than just be a general irritant.
