A powerful & unknown enemy has attacked - and won. Hundreds of video game characters from past Nintendo games have been turned to spirits by Galeem and his army of Master Hands. Only Kirby has escaped the initial attack, riding a star. Now Kirby must venture by himself and discover the nature of the World of Light, as he attempts to free the other fighters, which have been turned into mindless puppets by Galeem. After hearing that this was going to be called "Super Smash Bros Ultimate", I was pumped and a bit nervous. This was because I didn't want it to suffer from a few issues that kept it from actually feeling like the ultimate Smash Bros. Thankfully, that is far from the case, as this is definitely the ultimate Smash Bros that fans of the series, like myself, have dreamed for. The gameplay is addictive and amazing, the visuals are gorgeous, as they are detailed and pop with colors, the modes in this game are all fun, as each one of them has hundreds upon hundreds of hours of playtime, which is thanks to the overwhelming amount of replay value this game has, the roster is the best it has ever been, as it has every character from each Smash Bros games before it, as well as a few more, the stage selection is also the best it has ever been, with over 100 stages, the music and the amount of it is all fantastic stuff, and the overall package just kicks so much ass (no pun intended). All of this would be enough for this game to be fantastic, but the mad lads at Nintendo, Sora, and Bandai Namco made sure this game would stand out from the rest. The classic mode now has different paths for each character, which totals up to 70+ ways to go through classic mode, which are all very fun. The World of Light mode is surprisingly amazing as well, as you level up spirits so that you can get better in battles. This also offers hundreds of hours of replayability, and getting through each battle in the mode is very rewarding, as it not only rewards you based off of difficulty (which offers a fun challenge in and of itself), but it just makes you feel accomplished after tackling something you couldn't do before you got and/or leveled up your current spirit. The smash mode is fantastic as well, as you can FINALLY turn off stage hazards if you want too, as well as customize the rules to your heart's content. All in all, for those reading who has a Nintendo Switch and still haven't got this game yet, what are you waiting for? This is easily one of, if not the best Smash game to date, and it is definitely a must-have for switch owners, as it is a masterpiece that lives up to it's name in spades.
EDIT: The version 3.0 update made this fantastic game even more so, as the new stage builder is the most robust and customizable it has ever been, making this version of "Stage Builder" the best it's ever been.
