Roo asks Duncan why he never told her about Bryce. Duncan later returns and tells her and Alf that Caroline had an affair when Bryce was three; they now live in Hawaii and he hardly ever sees them. He says he didn't want Alf to know he was a failure but they suggest a night-time fishing trip together. John and Marilyn try to be hospitable to Aaron, who has brought a framed picture of him and Jordan as a present. Aaron asks Jordan to live with him again, even though he has yet to get his own place, but Jordan is worried about being let down again, after six months of no contact, and decides to stay with John and Marilyn. Evelyn is worried no-one will come to the sleep-over so Olivia ropes in Jordan and also Tabitha Ford, a friend from group counselling who has just moved to town. Mason volunteers as a supervisor when Phoebe pulls out but is embarrassed when he tries to kiss Evelyn and she pulls away.
Jordan is surprised and baffled by his father Aaron Walsh turning up, straight from prison, with a token birthday gift and wants him back 'home', even though there is nine 'yet', so he is relieved when every one agrees he can stay with John and Marilyn until further notice. Evie's poorly planned youth center benefit sleep out at school needs help, which comes from Olivia recruiting people and Mason, who volunteers to help with provisions and nocturnal supervision as Phoebe accepted a musical gig, but hastily shies off when a stolen kiss doesn't amuse Evie. Alf finally listens to Duncan's divorce plight and accepts to go fishing together, but fears his son only mentioned the grandson to prevent missing out on the inheritance.
