There Is a Weakness in These Things
1 November 2017 | by HitchcocSee all my reviews

I really like this show, so don't get me wrong. The kids are great and it's nice to see them so committed to each other. It also gives us a nice view of the 1980's, before computers and social media began to dominate everything. I got a kick about the use of BASIC for returning the plant to its original settings. It was exciting and intense. The thing that bothers me is that the kids are so quick to understand the implications of the threat. Their knowledge is so over the top, it makes one wonder what rules they are playing by. These scientists have fooled around and potentially are going to get our world destroyed. What have they created and how can it be stopped? Soon we are given a set of rules like the guys in "Ghostbusters" had. Where did they learn this? I know a bit about "Dungeons and Dragons," but that is all fiction. How can one use it to confront this insane menace? They seem to know an awful lot. I know. Don't take it so seriously. But even the rift that gets closed up by El. How did they know it would work? And how did they know specifically where to go. I did enjoy the heat engendered "exorcism" of Will. I guess I need to trust that he absorbed knowledge that made it work and became a guide. But the other guys see to be flying by the seats of their pants. I think there needs to be a bit more information given to the viewer to make things work properly.
