Kallattam is one action thriller that must be lauded for not featuring any romance or comedy tracks and staying focused on the storytelling. There's no heroine at all. There are just heroes and villains. And along with them comes a good amount of action, emotion and suspense.
Nandha has done a good job as a cop, while Richard Rishi has also impressed big time as a desperate father. The actor who played Ezhumalai also did a good job, and so did Ilavarasu.
The film's writing and editing departments are both strongly handled as the story is told perfectly within 92 minutes. Action scenes are realistic and placed accordingly. "Raa Raarandi" song is catchy. Cinematography and other departments are also decently handled.
Kallattam is not a typical cop film. It is handled in a very realistic and intelligent manner. It's a different kind of action thriller both in terms of storytelling and action. If you want to be thrilled for one and a half hours, this film is recommended!
