Trivia

It seems King Ecbert is loosely quoting from the song Turn! Turn! Turn! written by Pete Seeger and made famous by The Byrds when prince Aethelwulf is leaving for battle. But infact he is quoting the Bible - the lines come from the book of Ecclesiastes, as found in the King James version of the Bible. See more »

Goofs

After Ivar's idea of using terrain to defeat a larger enemy (Aethelwulf's) proves to be successful, Bjorn calls Ivar a 'genius'. The term was however coined in mid 17th century, about 800 years later. See more »

"On the Eve" is a full of action episode of "Vikings" with two battles. In Kattegat, Lagherta now is aware of the true intentions of Harald. In Mercia, the Viking and the Saxon armies face each other and Aethelwulf orders his men to attack. My vote is eight.
