The Rhythm Section Trailer Teams Blake Lively & Jude Law in a Tale of Revenge

  • MovieWeb
After pushing the release date back multiple times, Paramount Pictures has finally found a good spot on its calendar for The Rhythm Section, and they released the trailer to show it. Directed by Reed Morano and starring Blake Lively, The Rhythm Section promises action, drama and revenge.

Blake Lively stars as Stephanie Patrick, an ordinary woman on a path of self-destruction after her family is tragically killed in a plane crash. When Stephanie discovers that the crash was not an accident, she enters a dark, complex world to seek revenge on those responsible and find her own redemption.

The trailer gives us an intriguing look at it all of this through a tension building 1 minute and 58 seconds, without giving much of the story or character details away. It opens with Patrick having lost her family three years prior. We see her typical revenge-seeker's wall of photos, but it's more extensive

Paul Feig to assemble the Universal Monsters for Dark Army

As reported by Deadline, there’s some spooky movie news coming from horror legends Universal Pictures as the studio has penned a deal to develop a new monster movie from Paul Feig. The creator behind Bridesmaids, Spy and the recent A Simple Favor is heading to horror with his film, Dark Army.

After 2017’s The Mummy underwhelmed, Universal Pictures scrapped plans for their ‘Dark Universe,’ an McU-style cinematic universe with their classic monsters. Now the studio is going the route of solo films with Blumhouse and Upgrade director Leigh Whannel taking on The Invisible Man, and now this project from Feig.

There are no more details on the project at this time, but it’s reported that Dark Army will feature some of Universal’s classic monsters and as well as original creations. Could we see a new version of something like Monster Squad here?

Before he ventures into horror,

Paul Heig set to take the helm on ‘Dark Army’

  • HeyUGuys
‘A Simple Favour’ and ‘Bridesmaids’ filmmaker Paul Feig has taken up the mantle to write and direct the new monster movie, ‘Dark Army’ for Universal Pictures.

The story is based on an original idea from Feig but no specific plot details have been revealed. Reports suggest that characters from Universal’s classic monster library and original characters created by Feig will be included. Feig and Laura Fischer will produce through his Universal-based Feigco Productions.

After a disastrous start to the Dark Universe with the Tom Cruise led ‘The Mummy’, Universal dropped the idea of an interconnected universe. Universal are now favouring filmmaker passion that has connective tissue to Uni’s Classic Monsters legacy which will see Leigh Whannell’s ‘The Invisible Man’ kick-start the monster universe. Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions take the gauntlet to push things forward with ‘The Invisible Man’. Having Whannell on board to write, produce and direct the reboot.

New Trailer for Emilia Clarke's Last Christmas, Which Looks Like a Hallmark Christmas Movie

There’s a huge market for those Hallmark holiday films. People seem to love them, my wife and kids are among them. Me? I can’t stand them. Well, director Paul Feig has directed a Christmas movie called Last Christmas, and it looks like one of those Hallmark films. My wife even agrees with me, and of course she wants to see it.

The script for the film comes from Emma Thompson and Bryony Kimmings, and it has a great cast that includes Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh, and Thompson.

The film is a romantic comedy that was inspired by the George Michael song. In the story, “Kate (Clarke) harumphs around London, a bundle of bad decisions accompanied by the jangle of bells on her shoes, another irritating consequence from her job as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop. Tom (Golding) seems too good to

Paul Feig to Write, Direct ‘Dark Army’ Monster Movie for Universal

Paul Feig to Write, Direct ‘Dark Army’ Monster Movie for Universal
Paul Feig has signed on to write, direct, and produce the monster movie “Dark Army” for Universal.

The studio released no plot details about the project other than comparing it to the upcoming Blumhouse-Leigh Whannell remake of “Invisible Man,” which is set to be released Feb. 28 and stars Elisabeth Moss and Oliver Jackson-Cohen.

“Instead of prescribing a mandated updating of these monster stories and making them all part of a larger scheme, the studio loosened these restrictions and open-sourced to filmmakers who were inspired to create their own unique stories,” Universal said.

Feig will produce for his Universal-based Feigco Productions, with Laura Fischer also producing.

The announcement comes two months before the studio opens Feig’s romantic comedy “Last Christmas,” starring Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh and Emma Thompson.

Universal also teamed with Feig in 2011 on “Bridesmaids,” and he’s currently producing the film “When Michael Met Carrie…

Paul Feig Monster Movie ‘Dark Army’ Being Developed at Universal

Paul Feig Monster Movie ‘Dark Army’ Being Developed at Universal
Universal is developing “Dark Army,” a monster movie based on an original idea from filmmaker Paul Feig.

Feig will write and direct as well as produce for his Universal-based Feigco Productions. Laura Fischer will also produce.

Similar to what’s being done with Blumhouse and Leigh Whannell’s upcoming “Invisible Man” film — inspired by Universal’s classic monster character — instead of pushing forward with the initial notion of an interconnected universe, the studio halted and reassessed after being reminded that passion and relevance led to these characters’ endurance over generations. Universal remains committed to creating compelling filmmaker-driven projects based on characters from the studio’s vast monsters legacy.

Ghostbusters Reboot Director Paul Feig is Directing a Universal Monster Movie Called Dark Army

Bridesmaids and Ghostbusters reboot director Paul Feig is set to write and direct a new Universal Pictures monster movie called Dark Army. The film is based on an original idea by the director and it’s said to “tie into the Monster universe” and that it “will include characters from Universal’s classic monster library and original characters created by Feig.”

There are no other details on the story, but I imagine with a title like Dark Army, the film will feature an army of monsters.

While I enjoyed Bridesmaids and A Simple Favor, I’m not a fan of the majority of Feig’s work and while the concept of this new film is interesting, I wish it was coming from a different filmmaker. I did not like what he did with that Ghostbusters reboot, and it’s not because of the all-female cast. It’s because the story,

Paul Feig, Universal Hatch New Monster Movie: ‘Dark Army’

  • Deadline
Exclusive: What’s new on the slab in the lab where monster movies incubate at Universal Pictures? The studio has just made a deal to develop Dark Army, a monster movie that Paul Feig will write and direct based on an original idea by the director of Bridesmaids, Spy, The Heat, Ghostbusters and A Simple Favor. Feig and Laura Fischer will produce through his Universal-based Feigco Productions.

After The Mummy underwhelmed, the studio veered from the original ideal of an interconnected universe of star-driven films, and instead is favoring films driven by filmmaker passion that has connective tissue to Uni’s Classic Monsters legacy. That is what is being done with Blumhouse and Leigh Whannell’s upcoming Invisible Man film starring Elisabeth Moss and it is also driving Feig’s project.

No one was willing to be specific on how Feig’s film will tie into the Monster universe. I

The New Trailer For Last Christmas Is Making Us Even More Excited For the Festive Season
Last Christmas is a delightful holiday movie to add to our December lineup that just so happens to also have a crazy good cast. And now we have another trailer to get us excited for the festive season.

The movie stars Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), and Emma Thompson (who also wrote the screenplay), and it's directed by Paul Feig (the man behind Bridesmaids and A Simple Favor). Set in London, the romantic comedy follows Kate (Clarke), a struggling singer who has experienced a life-threatening illness in the past and currently works at a Christmas shop (she spends most of the film dressed as an adorable elf).

In the trailer, it appears Golding's character, Tom, continually keeps appearing in Kate's life (which he claims isn't an accident . . . hinting at a possible It's a Wonderful Life kind of scenario?), using his charm to help her realize

Universal Lands Romantic Comedy From Paul Feig and Meredith Dawson (Exclusive)

  • Variety
Universal Pictures nabbed rights to “When Michael Met Carrie… and Other People,” a spec script from Meredith Dawson, who is also attached to direct. Paul Feig is attached to produce.

Plot details are currently unknown, though the creative team promises it’s a new take on the romantic comedy.

Dawson, a protege of Mindy Kaling, worked in the writers room for Kaling’s TV adaptation of “Four Weddings and a Funeral” for Hulu. She was also featured on the 2018 Blacklist for her script “Spark,” which is being developed by Amazon Studios and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.

Feig recently wrapped Universal’s “Last Christmas,” a holiday rom-com starring Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding.

The acquisition of “When Michael Met Carrie… and Other People” comes as Universal and studio’s chief Donna Langley are diversifying its pool of directors with more female filmmakers. The studio recently tapped “Black Panther” cinematographer Rachel Morrison

Our Favorite Blake Lively Movie Is Now Our Fall Fashion Inspo
Get ready to suit up this fall. One of 2018's most underrated movies is finally available to stream, as A Simple Favor hit Hulu on Aug. 22. The uber-stylish thriller starred Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick as a pair of school moms-turned-BFFs who find themselves at the center of life-and-death mystery when one of them (Lively) goes missing, leaving Kendrick's character Stephanie to follow the breadcrumbs. While we truly feel the twist-filled movie didn't get enough love when it came out in September 2018—especially Lively's turn as Emma Nelson, a powerful and martini-pounding PR maven who has no interest in joining the PTA—all eyes were on Lively's...

Henry Golding Is Snake Eyes in G.I. Joe Spin-Off Movie

Henry Golding Is Snake Eyes in G.I. Joe Spin-Off Movie
Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding has been chosen to star in the upcoming Snake Eyes movie. The G.I. Joe spin-off will be an origin story, which is why fans won't be seeing Ray Park back in the role. Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura revealed late last year that Park would not be returning because they needed someone younger to tell the story of the formation of the hero known as Snake Eyes. Now that casting is underway, it's only a matter of time before production begins on the long awaited spin-off.

Henry Golding will play the mysterious ninja in the Snake Eyes movie, which "is said to center on Snake Eyes seeking revenge for his father's death by joining a ninja clan, and in the process finding acceptance." Evan Spiliotopoulos wrote the screenplay for the movie and Robert Schwentke is all set to direct. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Brian Goldner
