When season 2 opened up I was very hopeful that we'd get a continuation of the story without the virtue signaling that Bryan Fuller is known for, and first I was not disappointed. Then came episodes 4 & 5 and the "White Men are horrible oppressors" schtick was back...again. Whenever shows fall into the social justice politics I check out. Get woke, go broke I say. It's not like this show can afford to lose too many viewers with the way Fuller blew the budget in season one.
Human history is often the story of one group conquering another, and it has often been the case that the people with the darker skin were doing the conquering. Every group in the world has been conquered and enslaved at some point in their history. Get over it.
I'd like to think that American Gods will right the ship and find a way back to good storytelling and not fallback on identity politics to carry the show, but the show's history is against them on that count.
