Something Fishy about this crime.

A very good episode from the Seventh series of Death in Paradise, I've been critical of some episodes for feeling unoriginal, and for recycling old material, this episode managed to be intriguing, clever and be very original. It felt very fresh, original ideas, a very unusual start, and a totally different, and much welcomed conclusion. For a show which is normally so light and frivolous to discuss a subject like bullying, was I thought a brave and intelligent move, for people to see that even the likes of JP's character can be bullied in his youth and conquer it head on was terrific, deeper content then we usually get on this show. Of course there was the usual fluff, DI Mooney's fish, Dwayne and Darlene's problematic, but delightful relationship. A surprise twist for Dwayne, so it'll be interesting to see what develops for him and his visitor in next week's finale. Overall the penultimate episode of Series 7 was very good indeed.

Episode 7.7

When an elderly neighbour calls the police that there seems to be a violent altercation taking place in the next house. Officer JP discovers that someone he once knew at school was at the scene of the crime and implicated in the death.

DI Mooney has a gut feeling and a loose nut that the suspect is innocent, JP is less sure as the suspect used to bully him at school.

The denouement was rather unusual and the mystery really kept you guessing. The post credit 'in memoriam' suggests that the episode had to go through a major rewrite to cover up the death of a guest actor while filming was taking place. A reason why the culprit is never seen caught.

Bloopers

Am I the only one who noticed this? When DI Mooney arrives at the crime scene, Dwayne tells him that the witness was putting out the rubbish just after midnight. However later in the show, Mooney asks one of the suspects where he was between 10 and 11pm. How would such a blatant error make it to screen?

Instinct Of A Peanut

Murdered man with a confessed killer arrested. Only problem was a peanut. Lots of twists and turns. And a denouement that was unexpected.
