Way better than I thought it'd be
19 June 2019 | by sgpetersenSee all my reviews

I saw Stuber at a month early screening in Los Angeles. I was excited for this because the trailer made it seem like a fun, new story, but I was expecting your typical, cringy, 6/10 comedy. Nope, I absolutely loved this. The entire theater was laughing the entire time- I was almost in tears. It's not even cringy humor. With the way the two main characters contrast each other, it sounds real. The writing was great and worked perfectly with the way Stu and Vic interacted with each other. Additionally, the plot was great. Again, it was original and modern. It really felt different from any other comedy I've seen. The only complaint I have is the first 5 or so minutes of the movie when they filmed a fight scene with a super shaky camera. It felt super "Blair Witch shaky" and it made me dizzy, but it passed quickly and the rest of the movie was totally fine. I'd definitely recommend seeing this one, and I'm going again on the actual premiere.
