Bradley Cooper enters into early talks to join del Toro’s ‘Nightmare Alley’

Bradley Cooper has entered into negotiations to join Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of the William Lindsay Gresham novel ‘Nightmare Alley’.

Cooper is said to be in early talks for the adaptation to fill the vacant role left by Leonardo DiCaprio, who ended up passing on the project after a deal could not be reached.

Del Toro will take the helm on the picture which he co-wrote with Kim Morgan. He will also produce and finance the project with J. Miles Dale with Tsg Entertainment.

The story follows a young Stan Carlisle who is working as a carny, and he wonders how a man could fall so low. There’s no way in hell, he vows, that anything like that will ever happen to him. And since Stan is clever and ambitious and not without a useful streak of ruthlessness, soon enough he’s going places. Onstage he plays the

Top 11 Highest-Grossing Music Biopics, From Tupac to Queen (Photos)
In 2018, “Bohemian Rhapsody” blew past everyone’s expectations, becoming one of the top 10 highest grossing films of the year off the love that Queen fans have for the late Freddie Mercury. Now, “Rocketman” will try to have the same charm on Elton John fans, though it will be a tall order for it to knock “BoRhap” off the top of the music biopic charts.

10.) “All Eyez On Me” (2017) $44.9 million: Critics were not impressed by Benny Boom’s biopic on the life and career of Tupac Shakur, but fans of the late rapper showed up en masse on its opening weekend to beat box office expectations and earn nearly $45 million at the box office.

9.) “Jersey Boys” (2014) $47 million: Clint Eastwood is more well known as a director for making grittier films like “The 15:17 to Paris” and “The Mule,” but he also contributed to musical history with a 2014 jukebox drama about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons,

Clint Eastwood Sets Sam Rockwell and ‘BlackKklansman’ Actor for ‘Richard Jewell’

Long-developing, now active in a major way, Richard Jewell is likely Clint Eastwood’s next directorial project (and follow-up to absolute heater The Mule). What was once to star Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio falls to, in their respective roles, Paul Walter Hauser (BlackKklansman) and Sam Rockwell, while the original leads remain attached as producers. [THR]

Based on a 1997 Vanity Fair article by Marie Brenner (author of the source material for Michael Mann’s The Insider) and scripted by Billy Ray, it follows the public torment of Richard Jewell, a security guard working at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He was initially lauded as a hero for discovering three pipe bombs on the premises, but then vilified by the media for being a potential suspect, despite a lack of evidence; Jewell was eventually cleared of all charges.

Hauser will take the titular, eponymous, and lead role, while Rockwell is angling to portray Jewell’s attorney.

How Cinematographer Yves Bélanger Discovered the Power of Underexposure on ‘Sharp Objects’

How Cinematographer Yves Bélanger Discovered the Power of Underexposure on ‘Sharp Objects’
Early in prep, director Jean-Marc Vallée kept telling his go-to cinematographer, Yves Bélanger, to go darker and darker on their HBO psychological thriller, “Sharp Objects,” by underexposing the light. It was a new experience for Bélanger, but a pivotal one, which opened his eyes to a new aesthetic on the miniseries from showrunner Marti Noxon that was adapted from Gillian Flynn’s novel.

Intuitively, it made sense. The miniseries delves into the traumatic memories of alcoholic journalist Camille (Amy Adams), who returns to her small town in Missouri to cover the murders of two teenage girls, only to slowly discover a horrifying link to her own dark past through flashbacks. Reminders occur everywhere, through the associations of objects, reflections, the trick of the light, and other sense memory jolts. The dysfunctional relationship with her domineering, socialite mother, Adora (Patricia Clarkson) is merely the kickstart for the more toxic atmosphere that inhabits the not-so-sleepy Wind Gap.
