Trivia

After finding the shooter's blood at the crime scene, Torres tells Gibbs he forgot his gloves, and Gibbs silently hands him a spare pair. Mentioned in the series premiere, "NCIS: Yankee White (2003)", Gibbs' rule #2 is "always wear gloves at a crime scene." See more »

Goofs

When entering the dwelling of a suspected mass shooter that had been armed with a semi-automatic rifle, field agents would not make the entry. That task would be the responsibility of a SWAT team. See more »

Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: I got one with a swan. I got one with a kid. I got one with a plant.
Special Agent Timothy McGee: "One with a kid." You're talking about Jimmy?
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: I wanted to shake 'em all. I wanted to say, Rule 10.
Special Agent Timothy McGee: Yeah, but you didn't.
Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs: I couldn't. I burned Rule 10. No going back.

Director's interpretation of the characters a bit off
15 April 2019 | by martyninozSee all my reviews

Good storyline but this episode had moments of poor directing.

NCIS usually has episodes directed by different people. Most of the time, the transition between directors is seamless - the characters act in a certain way; there is a stability in their nature.

But this episode had moments of 'wierdness' where some of the characters behaved noticeably different than they do under different direction.

For example, during the 'active shooter' scene, Gibbs stops and listens while Torres babbles on about 'going swan'. The stop in momentum was distracting and felt out of place. There was also a stop and chat with McGee during the scene. When the scene should be go go go, it doesn't seem right to stop for a chat.

There are moments in this episode of overt weakness from Gibbs (such as in the basement at the end) - achieving this can be done subtlety and with a gentle touch (as the other directors manage), but this felt heavy-handed and over the top.

This 'softer, more tolerant' Gibbs seems to be the interpretation of the character by this director and it just doesn't really fit well.
