Lane Hunter's victims and their families become outraged when she is released from prison. Bell, although responsible for posting Lane's bail and getting her released, continues to be tortured by her manipulation. Meanwhile, Conrad uses work to cope with the news about his father, and he teams up with Mina, Kit and the Raptor to treat a patient who is suffering as a result of Lane's dangerous treatments. Then, Devon grows worried when he doesn't hear from Julian, and Nic sets her sights on a primary physician for their new clinic.
Dr. Alec Shaw, a medical 'saint' who just returned from Africa to Atlanta to run a free clinic in a bus, would be perfect to run the projected Chastaign free clinic dependency, but is hard to interest, yet seriously considers it when Nic shows him the 'rich staff' also can be best for poor patients. Devon is desperate after his canceled wedding, and worried about missing Julian, the key to expose Gordon Page's fraudulent practices. Conrad feels guilty that he didn't invest more time in his father, although Marshall came trough surgery by Bell and always hid his Crohn's like his marital drama. Bell drives his attorney to despair by helping Lane to $5,000,000 -advanced by Gordon- for bail without any guarantee. However her late victims Lily's widower won't let go.
