Not bad good.Just plain bad.

This movie is basically something you want to avoid.Unless you're a die hard cheap horror fan.And event then the movie is still not enjoyable. The film is as one would expect overloaded with bad acting, ridiculous scientific explanations, and annoying stereotypes. Its a good film to bypass.Instead see 'They Bite' or 'Humanoids from the Deep'.

Gundam Fight!Ready Go!
31 August 2000
Like all entries in the Gundam universe, this is set far in the future with people living on earth and in space colonies. The story goes that earth has been rather messed up by pollution and so each country makes itself a colony in space(which look like floating islands). To determine who will rule the earth the gundam fight is held.So each country sends a gundam that is repesentitive of itself and a style of fighting unique to itself to be entered in this tournament. The mech designs were pretty cool although a few of them seemed somewhat stereotypical like Neo Spain's Matador Gundam. The show offers some relatively decent charecter developments but not all that much intricate plot. This should please gundam fans and some non gundam fans since its not that hard to follow and can simply be watched just for the heck of it.

Kappa (1994)
Way too familiar yet somehow fresh.

Once the title creature shows up you're instantly going to compare this to 'E.T.'.Which is basically right the plot is all very similar to 'E.T.'If not a total clone. What makes it fresh is the way it opens and how the story comes into play. One would think this movie has nothing to do with aliens and that this is a tender story about the relationship between a father and son.But once the alien shows up it becomes to predictable and leaves one wondering just how this alien is supposed to fit into Japanese history and mythology.

More serious adult version of 'Splash'.

From the very beginning of this movie you now its going to be serious. The violin music and the psuedo film noir opening are hints to this. And as the movie develops this serious aspect becomes even more prevelent.Ranging from the scientist trying to prove the existence of mermaids to the love affair someone has with a fish. The really weird part in this movie is where a guy gets it going on with a mermaid.Needless to say this is weird but what makes it worse is that this scen is being treated like it is supposed to be sensuous or something. But its not.In fact its just plain icky. Its like watching somone mate with a bipedal turqoise carp. And finally one of the really unusual things about this movie was the way the mermaids look. The do not resemble traditional mermaids but look like a cross between a grey alien, elephant, carp, seal and somone wearing spandex(If you can imagine that).

They Bite (1996)

If you can handle gore and bizzare sex this movie is right up your alley.

After the first five minutes you're probably thinking this is nothing but cheap smut and violent filth. You're basically right. but if you can handle this kind of movie then you should probably see it(although it is hard to find). Also anyone who is a fan of the old beach monster movies shown at drive ins in the 50's-60's will probably like this seeing as how it pays homage to movies of that sub genre like 'The Horror of Party Beach'.This is not a movie to take seriously, you should just have fun with it.

The greatest Kaiju Eiga since 1954.

This was probably one of if not the best of all Japanese giant monster movies. It goes in a direction I never thought possible with this genre. The focus is more on the human charecters and their development than the monsters.I've always thought (with a few exceptions)that this genre should just be for fun and not seriousness. But this movie proved me wrong.Almost everything about the movie was practically flawless.Especially the special FX which I honestly liked better than the American Godzilla movie.

Good idea,bad movie.

The idea of making a film about the secrets and wonders of inside the Earth sounds like good idea for a movie but this movie just can't seem to deliver. The actors are bareable(well sort of)except for the main charecter who is just as way to smug.As far as special effects and set the crew did a okay job.And the plot would be better if there were more creatures and stuff and less of a boring, tedious buildup.
