Mainly visuals
17 February 2020
A good movie in which the plot plays 'second fiddle' to the incredible visuals. The social message is obvious and the story is more like a graphic novel.

A message for our time
17 February 2020
At this writing there are 17 reviews, some with studious and knowledgeable insight into journalist Gareth Jones and his experience in the USSR during the early 1930's. Plus I don't feel I can make any better or interesting statements on this wonderful film by Director: Agnieszka Holland and Screenwriter: Andrea Chalupa. The two hour length passes quickly while you are immersed in this gripping story.

After thinking about 'the message' I took from this event is an honest journalist faces the same deaf ears today as Mr. Jones experienced in his time. Mr. Jones fell victim to oppressive government and disinterested editors only willing to listen to the voice of authority. Today a journalist who wants to bring light to corruption is oppressed by corporate overlords and government officials too occupied with fostering their shared financial gain and social power.

I feel this film will never get the public attention it so desperately deserves.

Weirdly watchable
16 February 2020
This flick apparently had a donation budget, but Director: David DeCoteau and the cast of actor give honest felt performances. The plot is simple - young boy and hopeful poet meets an older dude. The older guy has never bothered to have a 'love relationship' but the young guy fires the spark and is inspired to create heartfelt poetry.

It's a hokey plot but it works in this late 1990's movie. And the sex is tame which added to the story.

You'll get involved
13 February 2020
A 20 minute story with an impact! The dialog is minimal and the 'neighbors' are never heard. But the emotional impact of what you watch covers a vast spectrum.

This short film is all about envy, emptiness, and empathy. Watch this expertly acted and crafted story. I had tears at the end.

Letting her light shine !
2 February 2020
What can be said about perfection? Well I don't know, but Fortune Feimster has made one of the funniest and cheerfully uplifting stand-up comedy shows I have ever seen.

She talks about her life from childhood to the present and I just loved her attitude. There are no off-color jokes to challenge those that can't handle that sort of thing and she has you laffing by just talking about her own life experience and observations and how it affected her growing-up in North Carolina.

If you want to have a good time and feel happy then please watch this show. Thank you Netflix ***** !

Nicely crafted Indie film
22 January 2020
Director: Alex D'Lerma, Writer: Alex D'Lerma, has created a perfect film! The script is engaging for the viewer, the direction is perfect, and the actors portray their characters sincerely.

What I really liked about this film is the empathy I developed for the two main characters. Each struggles with an emotional need/problem and they find a level of comfort in what the other needs/offers. It's a complex and awkward relationship. But each one respects the other; although a few lines are crossed.

This is a thoughtful story!

A formula movie
12 January 2020
This flick is cute and pretty to watch. There are chuckles and smiles for the viewer.

But the plot line is very predictable with all the 'good and bad' characters we've seen before. Rich corporate boss takes advantage of little start up business to get their product. The little guys get revenge. The end.

But it was fun to watch.

Easy watch on the Bowie climb to fame
9 January 2020
This documentary is an easy look back into the life and artistic climb of David Bowie to the level of international fame.

It is informative without giving you too much information. Plus it is interesting in how it shows David Bowie and his focused artistic drive on is music dreams and how he made it all come true.

His personal life is left in the shadows and not dwelled upon.

Reality cr*p at its worst
9 January 2020
As Bette Davis once said - "What a dump!" - and that perfectly describes this show. A dump dumping on a dump.

G Ramsay has the personality of a pit bull and a rottweiler. And the show is so contrived and scripted it's absolutely unbelievable that the show has lasted this long. The Jan. 7, 2020 show is my first and last viewing.

About 15 or 20 years ago I ate at this restaurant and it was a dump then. Nothing can be transformed in 24 hours to be the wonderful eating establishment the show claims it has become due to the 'Ramsay' effect.

Barf.

A movie for ----
1 January 2020
----- viewers who can appreciate a film of interaction and discussions between two people.

The plot or story is secondary to the talking between the three main characters. Some of the topics these three discuss is very intriguing but it comes at the price of a fading plot line. The closing scene left me baffled because it appears we are right back to the beginning of the movie.

I really enjoy this type of format for a film. And I enjoyed this movie. But it came across as being a bit oblique.

Two hours of stuff
1 January 2020
This movie starts off like a boiling pot of water, but then after about 45 minutes it slowly goes to a simmer, and then it just goes cold.

Most of the dialog is smartly written and delivered by the main characters - but the story slowly becomes pointless and a struggle to watch. Once again it's just another story of wealthy people bellyaching over their life decisions.

5 stars because the beginning pulled my attention into the story quickly.

This dude has an interesting life
1 January 2020
Dov Tiefenbach (Benny) is that type of actor who can play to perfection a role of the homely yet masculine and sexy dude!

Here Benny has two women in his life - one he wishes would leave and one he has the hots for. But unknown to him there is a third woman. Eventually Benny gets what he wants but the consequences take an unexpected turn on him. I felt sorry for Benny because he's really a nice guy. But all isn't lost for him!

Fine script, good acting, and the story flows evenly. And it's not too long!

A deeper look
30 December 2019
If you have any interest in the life of Judy Garland then this documentary certainly is a must see! This film centers on her life with her second husband Sid Luff and him managing her career as a singing performer.

What I like about this documentary is that it focuses on the woman and not just her as a singer. Few secrets are held back which makes this a riveting must see about her life.

The usual goofball romcom
30 December 2019
So here's the plot -

This doofus guy cannot live without his cell phone and all the helpful apps it offers. He meets a girl, he falls in love with the girl, he loses the girl, and then he gets the girl back -- that's it. And it's an app he turns to for help and advice on his cell phone.

There are some funny adventurous scenes; but as a whole the movie is pretty much a standard disposable romcom forgetable story.

Fizzle
19 December 2019
Watching this movie is like watching a long fuse to a fireworks burn and then when it reaches it's end it just fizzles out. Nothing expected happens.

There is fine acting by all the characters. The plot is captivating. But at the end it just comes to a stop! As a viewer I needed a more solid and complete finality to this story.

self indulgent RWA's
11 December 2019
There really isn't much to say about this flick. It's basically a trip to hell during winter in NYC. Four teens boys - all RWA's - spend their time going out to party, take drugs, fight, and sex-it-up with a convenient girl.

One teen - Nick - is 'the new guy' and he brings a boat load of emotionally damaged baggage and anger with him. But to party is his passion along with the other three guys. This goes on for two hours!!! And then the movie ends.

This flick is the poster child of 'boring'.

A bio
8 December 2019
Anton Yelchin didn't let his congenital disorder define his short life! Being an intelligent and curious person from his childhood Anton grew up seeking knowledge and experience. I'm sure his life was more fulfilling at 27 than most lives are at 77.

I found this film a bit heavy on the sentimental side and not enough on his life experience. But altogether we are given a peek into a person who wanted to live and brighten the lives of others without bringing his own problems to the surface.

Give it a look!

Confusing at best
8 December 2019
Josh, a part time writing professor, must juggle his life between; a disgruntled student, his very strange girlfriend, his estranged relationship with his father, his dying grandmother, his do nothing brother, and his odd mother.

This story jumps from one scene to another and even though Josh is the connecting character throughout, nothing seems to jell into one story. At movies end I still felt the story wasn't finished.

Plus there are some comedy scenes that just do not make it to the comedy level.

A very easy film to like or dislike
8 December 2019
Personally I liked this story because it shows the human side of Christmas as opposed to the idealistic side of Christmas. We all take Christmas as a time to be happy and cheerful and giving. But the reality of it is that we are seldom truly happy and the events in this human life always over shadow the so called "message of Christmas". Because Christmas is phony!

Here we are given a very real Jenny running away from a failed relationship to stay with her brother and his wife and child. Jenny brings with her a lot of emotional baggage and doesn't make the Christmas season very cheerful for her brother and family.

But Jenny does bring something to the table. Through Jenny, Kelly finds the courage to follow her dream!

Chelsea makes her point clearly and factually. She is to be admired!

Plus, it's obvious from the wave of negative reviews, that she touched a nerve in other people who choose to remain blind to the society around us.

A must see
1 December 2019
If you have any level of social conscientiousness this documentary is a must see.. The streets and homes of valuable American and European citizens are in jeopardy. And it is up to our fellow citizens and ourselves to be aware of this disturbing trend taking over western culture.

It seems all the hope and civil progress gained in the second half of the 20th century is being ripped apart in the first half of the 21st century.

A 45 minute mystery
1 December 2019
A 45 minute mystery stretched out for two hours! You can figure out who's innocent within the first 30 minutes! This story is so 'actuel' the political/social overtones are unpalatable to the plot. If the average viewer fails to notice this - then they are in a coma!

Plot - a death has occurred in a 'manifest destiny mansion'. And Daniel Craig as inspector 'Benoit Blanc' is hired to investigate. (Personally I think Craig is being groomed to be the Louisiana version of Hercule Poirot). But that phony southern drippy bougainvillea accent is very nerve wrecking. Please don't!

The mystery is good but the process to solve it is needlessly long.

Too kewl
28 November 2019
If you want a - 'reality show' - with male & female eye candy then this is the show for you. It's pure nonsense but oh-so-entertaining and completely disposable because you don't have to think about it.

Just enjoy it !

The producers have covered it all - straight couples, gay couples, mixed race couples - everything ! And the surprise is the setting is 'Atlanta, Georgia'.

Jump on this before it's gone.

28 November 2019
This seasons series is as funny and brilliant as years past. To those who 'don't get it' -- you never will!

The genius of this show isn't so much the conversations the puppets are having it's the background action that supports the conversations.

One of my favorite shows. Too bad the series has way too much time between.

Thanx CC for bringing it back ! ! !
