Crop And Save
adventures, dangerzones and booze
Things somehow always seem to work out for this spy/secret agent/P.I./daddy/dawg
Ugly Betty (2006)
A gay old time!
Fun to watch with a lot of twists and turns for an odd duck in a pond of swans, ESCANDALO!
A thrilling ride in a fancy household
I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this movie on the big screen!
The suspense of an entire family trying to weasel their way into service of a rich family is just the top layer of this movie about life choices, social class and the depths of what you're willing to do for your family.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
Loved this as a kid, appreciate it more and more as an adult with each viewing
Watch it out of respect for the people who made it.
Watch it for nostalgia to a different time.
Watch it for the unconventional animation & live action mix.
Just don't pass this great movie!
The Thief and the Cobbler (1993)
Creat visual animation
Visually quite whimsical and a story suited for all ages.
I've seen 2 versions of this movie, one where Tack and the Thief have small bits of dialogue, and another where they don't. The first feels more suited for all ages so even the little ones can properly get what's happening, the version where there's less dialogue however seems to add a level to the experience that's probably more suited for a more mature audience (late teens & adults)
Dramatic Period Horror
Contrary to other costume dramas from the 90s, this one did not age as well as it could have.
The cast may have a several popular names which at this point were no longer rookies in their field, but somehow it still feels a bit stiff and forced.
Aside from those 2 flaws, the story is melodramatic and sad, the sets look like a an eerie and gloomy converted attic space playground, and all in all the 2 hours will be spent in a nostalgic "Saturday morning horror sofa time"-feeling.
Best to watch on a chilly and dark November afternoon.
Not quite the same as the original movie, but quite a watch
It's a mix of Glee, Mean Girls, Gossip Girl and plenty of other high school series loosely using the plot of the 80's nostalgia trip "Heathers".
There's a bit of neon, characters use personal color codes, updates to modern society have been made, and in the end we're held up a mirror that isn't bad, but not necessarily nice to watch.
A finale that deviates slightly from the original
Will it be a prom to remember? And if so, fondly? As the season comes to a close, decisions are made and how much will change in the end because of them?
A filler episode if ever there was one
Sure, it has a few aspects that aid towards the plot of the finale, but they could just as easily have done a montage of it all and call it quits.
Heathers: Reindeer Games (2018)
For one episode we see the world through the eyes of JD, and it's quite a different thing from the Heather's (and Veronica's) POV.
Doubts, jealousy and taking the lead
Our beloved Veronica faces some uncomfortable moments as her new boyfriend doesn't do things that are socially expected of him, and she's offered a chance at a more conventional alternative.
Heathers: She's Going to Cry (2018)
Oh now there's a twist!
It still vaguely follows the ideas from the movie, but as this is set in a much more modern era (with plenty of nostalgia hints) things develop in more modern ways!
a wonky start
The idea of the movie is obviously unchanged, but everything is projected on the currect social media trends, lifestyle choices, and whatnow, which doesn't always seem to work in favor of the story
Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005)
A Jumanji knock-off that's actually worth watching!
Same idea but set in outer space instead of a jungle, two brothers must overcome their bickering relationship to survive what the game presents them.
An adequate 80s high school dark comedy
There are plenty of movies aimed at the teenage kid (within us), but this one has a more lethal theme. It's not a bad attempted, but if it were made today it would probably need a lot more bang in order not to bomb
Battle Beyond the Stars (1980)
cheesy yet passable, but only just
Imagine Guardians of the Galaxy without a big budget and fancy effects and a TV movie plot, and you'll have an idea of what to expect.
Still, it has a few good taglines (specifically St Exmin's view on life), the sporadic low key comic relief and a few decent life lessons, so if you like all that done with very retro effects, you still have a decent time watching this.
Things have been building towards this season finale and it'll hit you right in the feels towards the end.
It does feel a bit rushed to tie up some ends (but not all), and you'll struggle to accept the results of certain actions (I know I did) but if you think about it this outcome has been an option lurking since the show started.
The Magicians: A Life in the Day (2018)
Best episode of the season
All the feels!
Wonderful to watch!
Although the type of this story isn't actually very rare, the way it's shown is unconventional, and is pretty much exclusively reserved for a very open minded sci-fi type show.
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
Death doesn't have to be a downer
Sure, Death lures around the corner in various ways in each episode, but it's funny, it's confronting, and boy is it a thrilling ride!
X-Files meets shooter game
There may be a well developed story here, but it wasn't hitting me with much feels...
maybe reality is still better
Because endless (or rather a handful) of alternate options don't necessarily turn out better
Love, Death & Robots: Ice Age (2019)
not a bad attempt
The story is alright, so is the execution, but this feels like the one that doesn't quite match the concept
Love, Death & Robots: Blind Spot (2019)
Fun to watch!
It's a heist that teaches a rookie the touch parts of the job.
Love, Death & Robots: Zima Blue (2019)
An artist invites a single reporter to explain the preparations of his final work.
Love, Death & Robots: Lucky 13 (2019)
in the right hands, a flying coffin becomes a guardian
Sci Fi at its best! A wasteland filled with enemies, a crew that needs to be picked up or dropped off, and a captain that that slowly flips about the reputation of her ship.
