Wish I could go higher
Just as Ashley becomes tolerable...they turn the unlikable back up to 11. It makes it difficult to keep watching this show. Which sucks because the other four main characters are GREAT!! Suzanne Cryer/Ashley is the arsenic in this drink.
The Flash: Finish Line (2017)
Really drags out the ending
I like the morality of conquering hate with love. Taking responsibility for your actions. Redemption.
But it also accidentally makes the point that some people are expendable. Some you have to save. Others you can live without.
Also what kind of hero takes 8 minutes to say goodbyes while people are dying all around him?
Overall, not bad. But still, some serious flaws.
Triple Threat (2019)
The percentage on this is too low!
First of all EVERYONE gets a moment (or three) to shine. Which is rare when you put this many people into one film.
It is of course short on plot and character development. But for an action packed good time you can do A LOT worse.
Tiger Chen, iko Kuwais & Tony Jaa are pure joy in their performance which aside from the action they also have moments of drama and humor. They are very enjoyable to watch.
The fact that these 6 men can share the spotlight and none of them have to be top dog is a pleasant reality as well. I hope to see more of this in the future!
All in all you really should check this out one time if you like action and humor at all.
Elayne Boosler: Top Tomata (1989)
The skit intro is UNBEARABLE. I had to fast forward to get to the show. I remember her being a lot funnier. And for all her whining about not getting into movies it's easy to see why.
Alas, there's still Rita Rudner.
Accuracy sacrificed as usual
Well acted for the most part. (Except Matthew. A truly insulting performance.) Definitely high quality. Maybe not as good as Samson or even Exodus. But better than Noah, but what isn't?
A better version of this movie exists and it's called The Final Inquiry. I recommend that one more so.
Still the film does have some excellent moments.
Can't give any episode with Ashley a 10
By this point shouldn't it be called Three guys a girl & a pizza place? Or three guys, two girls and no pizza place since they drop the pizza place next season?
Gotta love Nathan Fillion
Ashley needs to go
This was weird. I like Barenaked Ladies but I'm not sure why they narrated the episode. But it was fun. It was neat seeing other actors that are in minor roles here and then went on to bigger (not large) roles.
Got to go.
They need to kill Ashley off. Seriously. Not write her out, not move her character on. KILL the character off. She's horrible in almost every scene. The actress is obnoxious and the character is horrible. It's bringing the entire show down. No wonder it got cancelled early.
Ashley killed Two guys AND a girl!!
You can tell he has some deep thoughts. And her wraps them in decent jokes. Yet he constantly misses the mark and takes side roads missing the very point he's trying to make.
As the Berg turns.
I hate when these get all soap opera 'lite'. The character of Venita deserved better. If they were gonna give Berg someone to drop after one episode they should've made her a more disposable character. Especially after Ashley being a very unlikable character. She improved some but not a lot. And now she's back and extremely unlikable again.
FINALLY!!! An easy way to write Ashley out of the story!!
But.... look who's back. 😠
Best episode because "Berg" "kills" Ashley.
Worst episode ever because "Berg" "kills" Sharon.
But seriously, this episode is darkly hilarious. Like a Simpson's Halloween special.
Great cameo also.
A small lesson
No Ashley, introduced Johnny (Nathan Fillion). So already one of the better episodes.
Plus a pretty solid story about facing fears, the future, etc.
Ashley apparently is a recurring character. And now I see why the show was cancelled.
Thank goodness for Traylor Howard. She absolutely made this episode. Which it so desperately NEEDED to save it from everything else.
They got rid of the boss at the pizza place. They got rid of the eccentric gentleman. They got rid of Melissa (that ones ok, but I liked her). They made Berg neurotic which would've worked if the woman that made him neurotic was even ONE PERCENT likable. Which she was not.
Here's hoping nothing this bad appears again.
Best Disney remake!
Farrell and DeVito were exceptional. Keaton did great. The story was moving, occasionally funny and even whimsical at times. It's an absolute delight for the most part.
One of my favorite things is how they didn't just remake Dumbo with live people. This is a very original story. A comparison I've been using is how Scrooged IS A Christmas Carol. And yet it's it's own film as well. Same thing here. You know the story but you don't know every step.
And Elfman created one of his most original scores in years. Maybe decades.
My child loved it, every kid in the theatre was reacting to the moments and seemed to love it.
I highly recommend this very fine film.
Dark. But good.
I wish the PS4 update had fixed the controls. The controls are very frustrating. But this game is a uniquely brutal game.
The Punisher (2004)
Wish it was on PS4
Never happen. But I loved this game. The addition of other Marvel characters. Kind of annoying that you couldn't jump. And kind of funny that you couldn't open a locked door with a shotgun. But this game was great.
Punisher: War Zone (2008)
Where's Dolph when you need him.
There are many positives to Thomas Jane's Punisher. There's a few to Bernthals...i suppose. War Zone is atrocious though. Really about the worst thing you can say about the 80s Punisher is "Where's the skull shirt?"
Otherwise that film, while flawed, is the best one still.
Ash vs Evil Dead: El Jefe (2015)
Off to a bad start.
The games kept the tradition of Ash being a regular guy but out of his depth and fed up with the deadites, necronomicon, and anyone who wants it.
This pilot scrubs all that, makes him FAR more insipid than he EVER was and really shows that no one involves, especially Cambell himself, really doesn't care about these characters or the world they once created.
It goes downhill from here.
Anne of Green Gables (1985)
Possibly the most perfect movie ever made
On a scale of 1 to 10 this is 135. There are precious few films that did every single thing right. That you absolutely feel better for having watched it.
The actors are perfect, the music is ideal, the quiet beautiful moments that capture Prince Edward Island will transport you to another (better) time and place.
None of the remakes after this have come close. Some have even tarnished Anne and the story and this film.
If there is a true list of movies everyone should see before they die. This film belongs on it and near the top. If not absolutely the #1 spot
Ben and Kate (2012)
Easy to see why it was cancelled
It's pretty crappy. The characters are terrible. The humor almost non existent. No one is very likable.
It's no loss like many other much better series that didn't get enough of a chance.
This show had MANY laugh out loud moments. Many great episodes. Occasionally a weaker episode. And some of the later seasons dragged a bit. But the characters, the actors, the great guest stars, is really something to enjoy. The last season was a return to the great first few and the finale was exceptional.
I'm going to miss them.
Last Man Standing (2011)
I miss old Kristin
Everyone talks about the new Mandy. Yes I liked the old Mandy too. But the new Mandy is pretty great as well. No one talks about the old season 1 Kristen Alexandra Krosney. Her replacement was extremely unlikable and has only barely gotten better with time.
The Glimmer Man (1996)
Seagals absolute best film
This is an incredibly enjoyable action film. If you like Seagal this is going to be in your top five if not #1. If you don't like him, you're going to be amazed how much you like this film.
You see Seagal is actually a human being in this film. He doesn't enjoy killing. He has real humor which is balanced perfectly with Keenan Ivory Wayans.
Truly worth watching.
