The Dukes of Hazzard (2005)
Ha, ha, ... definitely born to be wild...
Well, Jay Chandrasekhar's "Super Troopers" blow my mind away and i watched troopers for about 30 times. I can't say that "The Dukes of Hazzard" made same impression on me but they definitely made me laugh. Knoxville and S.W.Scott were nice remake of Duke brothers and of course the image of hot Jessica Simpson stayed in my head for sleeping and few days after :) Anyone who was watching old episodes of Dukes knows that "wild & crazy" are middle names, or shall i say, synonyms for Dukes... Of course their orange racing monster did a half impression on me cause Dukes definitely killed and broke every piece in that machine with wild driving and crazy jumps...
So, very nice 90 minutes piece of remade-comedy by Jay Chandrasekhar.
The Da Vinci Code (2006)
Interesting, but very predictable
I saw "The Da Vinci Code" last week and just want to say that some things totally blow my mind.
First of all, I'm a catholic... not nerdy one but raised in catholic family and spirit, so this movie revealed some things about Christian teaching or didn't...? So, this movie survived strong impact from Christian communities, but i don't see why? Nobody said in this movie that church is frod, just brought some things that may be true... and if the statements in movie are valid, somebody started with pranks a long time ago and made some false statements about Jesus and whole Christian teaching. I can understand if you are "nerdy" Christian you'll be offended with statements from this movie (famous one is: "Maria was Jesus wife, not mother").
OK, so second thing about movie is his enigmatic part. Like i said, a lot of things (false or true) were put in movie, and they just makes your mind jump between "yes, it makes sense" and "no freakin way". So, i'm not saying statements are true, but they can be, the thing is we'll never know...
And of course, third and last thing is my dissatisfaction with predictability. After 60 minutes, you'll know what will happen next, who will die, who is good guy and who's bad, and the things like that...
But, all in all, very interesting movie, and if you want to learn something more about this phenomenon i suggest reading a book and watching a documentary on this subject.
Rule number one: ...
Of course I won't tell you any of rules mentioned in film... see them for yourself. Just want to say that you won't blow your time watching this movie.
OK, so Guy Ritchie, took one big, big step, far away from his previous hits "Lock, Stock,..." and "Snatch", but I think it was worth it.
First of all, this movie is really confusing, unless you watch it 2-3 times again... story is complicated, and revealed step by step later on. But the main thing that kept me within is "deep meaning" sentences about our living, struggle, about cons, cheating, gaining advantage on your "opponents" and about some basic rules of our "everyday life" games.
Jason Statham did his acting part very good, playing the cold guy on the outside, but also a guy who question his inside personality... of course Ray Liotta did his part well, too, and so did the other guys like Andre Benjamin, who actually surprised me with his acting skills.
I'll add another thing about movie... it survived very different opinions, good and bad critics, but like I say always: "twisted words, enigmatic sentences and phrases are my passion", so 8.5/10 for this piece.
The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
I watched this movie few days ago in cinema. Well, first impression was "damn, i wasted my money again" cause I was really looking forward for film to ends. So, as you can guess I was bored like stone.
Even if my politics towards movies is "watched movie - new experience" I can't say I gained something new to talk or think about.
OK, so story is kind of interesting, nuclear testing, mutated people, abandoned places, few more other things that are clichés in this kind of horror stories... but the hero wouldn't stand a chance in reality against conditions he had or was in to. First of all, no offense to anybody who satisfy this description, how can guy ,who wear glasses and can't see almost a damn thing without them, kill all those monsters... Second, hero lost his two fingers in one fight, what can be a big handicap if you killing your enemies with axe... and Third, main character lost almost half of his blood, but still kept skills like agility, strenght, etc. So as you can see, in one way I love reality, and more important, I respect reality.
I also made some comparison between this movie and movies like "Hostel" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", and my opinion is that those two movies deserve at least 2-3 higher grades.
So, my grade is 5/10, no offense again.
Pretty interesting, but...
Harry Potter, LOTR, Harry Potter, LOTR, ... Well, those were the sentences I heard from people who watched this movie before me, so I decided to watch it myself. First of all movie is very interesting, reminds me on my childhood when I have started to create fantasy world, fantasy heroes, characters, etc. so it was kind of fun to watch it. Second, the story itself is amazing but it is based on clichés from other fantasy movies, so you can easily predict what will happen. But to put these two things aside, my grade for this remake shall be 7,5-8
So it all starts in GB during war and four kids from Pevensie family take trip to a safer place, country side. During one session of hide & seek game, from clear curiosity, Pevensies discover magical wardrobe that gives you enter to fantasy world of Narnia ruled by White Witch. Narnia is a world full of imaginary creatures, talking animals, and superpowers. By some prophecy these four kids, sons of Adam and daughters of Eve, are meant to be new kings and queens of Narnia, but before that all good living in this world must face White Witch's army and destroy the dark side. As in every movie good always wins so this one is not exception, kids become honored new rulers of Narnia and live their lives happily, but... Did they forget how the Narnia is entered, well a kind of yes, by magical wardrobe, and so they come back to the real world to find themselves not the minute older and confused by magical things they experienced. (Not a best review but what the hell)
Wow, wow, wow. What a movie. "Ghost in the shell" is one of the best philosophic movies made ever. I watched this movie about 6 times until I realized every part in the movie. The movie remind you on some sort of Sokrat's book, describes things about humans and their mentality and reacting, how we think, what are our desires, what is our point in life, lots explaining about AI,... If you want to see something that discovers truth about you this is definitely right movie. Artificial intelligence is also well described in GitS II. Practically it's the second part of the story "Ghost in the Shell" Producers take a lot lines from Bibble and other novels about human being.
Replace one night happenings with your one life happenings...
Imagine this: You are about to go somewhere nearby (about 50 km), and somehow you CAN'T reach that point. That is what this movie is all about. Two young friends, with single status, always on weed, having usual kind of life until someday they experienced almost all things that can happen to you in one life. They just wanted to go to fast-food restaurant and they got prisoned, car and money robbed, chased by police, and over 100 other thing that you can't imagine that can happens to you or somebody. So the point of this movie is "if you want something badly, you have to do hard and bad things to receive it." The only irony is that that thing is meal from Whitecastle restaurant.
"Just when you think it can get worst enough, it already got!"
If you want to visit Europe learn something about it first...
I watched "Road Trip", "Boat Trip", "American Pie 1&2", "Not Another Teen Movie",... but "Eurotrip" is amazing. First of all the movie is about American guys but it take a part in America for about 15 minutes from full lenght of half and hour so it don't remind you on another teen movie, all about love and that things. Second, guys in movie visited famous countries in Europe and learn something about them in funny way. Third, maybe producers make in this movie little overdose for some countries like lines in Paris (there is a lot of things to see but i don't think that lines are that long :) ), sex in Amsterdam (you practically see things about sex on every corner and everybody wants to have some of it), definitely economic status of Bratislava and whole Slovakia (I was in Slovakia on skiing one winter and i don't remember such of scenes like you come at the edge of the world :) ), and finally they have a lot of jokes with Rome (scenes in pope's apartment and other things) but maybe producers wanted to make from Europe fun continent. But to put aside this things. Events in Europe that happened to this guys are comic and let you watch the movie over 10 times for sure just for laughing. Plus the girls in this movie are very hot and good looking.
Cube 2: Hypercube (2002)
Very weird movie...
Well how to start... I don't want to say this movie sucks, but it's not far from that. Cube was very interesting movie when it showed but second part "Hypercube" seems like something that is going on far far in the future. There is a lot of things in this movie you can only see when you using marijuana or LSD... and the worst of all when you watch this movie you won't be any smarter because movie makers didn't explain anything about Cube (history, architecture, reason for existing...) So if you like to see a bunch of people in one place having no idea about anything that happens around them watch this film if you don't want you won't miss anything interesting.
Lepa sela lepo gore (1996)
All about life of soldiers in Bosnia War...
"Lepa Sela lepo gore" is one of the best movies which describes war in Bosnia and mental condition of soldiers who appears in war.
People lived in harmony in Yugoslavia from the end of World War II until 1991. when Yugoslavia started to falling apart. Country was multi ethnic (Serbs, Croatians, Muslims,...) and representatives of three major ethnics groups Milosevic, Tudjman and Izedbegovic thought that for Yugoslavia will be best to split in few republics. Milosevic didn't accept this solution and declare war to Croatians and Muslims cause of their "terror" on Serbs. War begin... people who was best friends until yesterday started to shooting on each other because of stupid reasons. This movie presents those people who wanted to take a part in Bosnian War. Serbians best actors are in this movie and they acted best.
I can't describe you movie that much you have to look for yourself mad things that were going on in ex-Yugoslavia from 1992-1995. Very good and sad movie about war.
Very cool movie
This movie is all about younger population in Serbia. In this movie you can see the way they live, having fun , fooling around and lots of other things. Also this is non-political movie even it was shooting while NATO bombing in 1999. Two best friends since childhood Mare and Pop aged over 25 with no job trying to make out money from shooting demo tape of their drum and bass music project. Pop tried to get money from their childhood friend Gojko Sisa (Gojko "The Tith") who screw them cause of old times torturing. A lot of fun, running, con-traversal stuff, girls and life scenes of youngsters from capitol Belgrade.
Best Serbian non-political movie ever.
