Sacred Games (2018)
Had to change my rating from 9 stars to 4 stars
The 2nd season is a total mess and so darn boring. What happened to the plot? The latest season is all style no substance.
Also just adding profanities everywhere does not make a script interesting. Maybe it had some effect for the first time because of its shock value. Now it just seems tired and lazy.
Highly disappointed with how this season is turning out.
The 100: His Sister's Keeper (2014)
What the heck was this
So much crying and speeches and drama. This is my second time I'm trying to watch this but its sooo boring. I hope goody miss two shoes character Clarke dies sometime soon so maybe we will get less sermons and pretentiousness.
Mayanagari - City of Dreams (2019)
Finally some good hindi tv
We've waited very long for good hindi series and thanks to online services like Netflix and Hotstar we're finally getting our fill.
Just like Sacred games this is another show to watch out for.
The storyline, acting, direction is all very good. At par with any hollywood tv serial I've seen. Thanks for investing time and money in writing a good script (though some of it does get super simplistic at times).
Overall it's good and I'm super happy that finally hindi tv is also catching up after the cancer called ekta kapoor tv.
Did DJ Khaled make this?
Such an interesting concept ruined by mindless echos, distortion fx and a drunken voice narrator.
It's like they hired DJ Khaled trying to make a documentary.
Wish they had a better story
Good actors but utterly childish storyline. It's amazing to see that all the actors and crew put in so much time and effort for what.. This horrible goat story? We definitely need better writers!
Four Corners: The Uber Story (2019)
Opinionated, biased and uninteresting
From the start of the show it was clear that the point of the whole episode was to cr_p all over uber.
Everything was edited to show everything about uber in bad light. From how their cars are a safety nightmare, to the evil corporate overloads at uber.
Of course if you interview people from taxi companies and bureaucrats they will say all bad things about uber because it's their overpriced business being destoryed and all govt cares about is their darconian laws not consumers.
It actually became quite ridiculous at the end when they even started belittling ventures like uber eats destorying restaurants.. really? how about interviewing some actual consumers who do benefit from their services immensely and uber has actually made their lives easier. Same for their futurstic technologies like personal transportation and uber flying cars. Hey they are actually trying to invent something great, how about not putting it off as "oh well that's a pipe dream".
I wish they created more balanced documentaries than this.
The best thing about this serial is that it doesn't take itself too seriously
Even though they are trying to save the world the best part is that it's not like they're to save the world. There is amazing comedy during the most intense scenes. Love this type of narrative
I really had high hopes for this but it doesn't even come near to making you laugh or even smile. He seems to be trying to hard and the material just isn't funny.
Even the slapstick antics feel forced and all you can give him are pity laughs for trying to be funny.
Mind The Malhotras (2019)
So dull and boring
When I saw the hoarding for this show I immediately thought it would be something funny like Sarabhai but unfortunately it isn't.
Everything looks so forced and the jokes just aren't that funny.
The pairing is also way off and mini mathur is looking like Cyrus' elder sister than wife.
Billions: Extreme Sandbox (2019)
Everything you love about Billions
There is no right or wrong here. Just good entertaining tv. I did not see the climax coming and all the missteps from before suddenly made sense.
Also kudos for not moulding the characters any which way just to move the story forward. The characters seem to have a mind of their own and often sidestep stupid boobytraps which most other characters make in TV serials to fit the story.
Billions: New Year's Day (2019)
I'm waiting for the payback episode
It's been so long waiting for a payback on Taylor mason by axe. Her character is so smug and annoying that any episode where there is an sort of payback for her will be entertaining as f :)
Worst interviewer ever
The worst part about this strange disjointed documentary that offers no new insights is the interviewer.
Take for example the Elon musk interview. He was actually saying something interesting when the interviewer interrupts him like a silly 5 year old to tell him something like "will you take me along too?". I mean seriously wth, the whole interview quickly went downhill after that very fast.
This is not a good documentary.
Please don't extrapolate spring break to entire humanity
While fun to watch this movie is too far removed from reality. It's like you visit a bad neighborhood and then extrapolate that experience into the entire world being like that. Then you bring in experts and cherry picked excerpts to fit your narrative and spread fud.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Don't listen to the fanbois
I think all the episodes were good. All the 1 star ratings are just knee jerk reaction to the series ending a bit abruptly.
I'm not going to write along review since this is probably going to get lost in the sea of these fan reviews but I must say that compared to all other television serials this show did something special and no other tv show will come to the quality, budget, acting of any GOT episode including "the bells", etc.
Don't listen to the fanbois and don't be prejudiced by the sheeple who are rating it 1 star. These are the the same annoying people who have to watch every tv and movie based on a book just to tell everyone else that "the book was better."
Love, Death & Robots: Blind Spot (2019)
The ending could have been better
The animation was superb and overall it was fun!
Without giving anything away I wish the ending was something different and this could be a 10/10 episode.
Love, Death & Robots: Zima Blue (2019)
So many amazing concepts in 10 mins
Even though the storyline is simple it has so many layers in it.
Why do trivial things give us the more pleasure than big expensive things? Why do we feel a sense of calling for some things? Like for someone it can be jumping off a cliff while others it can be making paintings or something as simple as cleaning the house.
Maybe I'm thinking too much into it but it really made me pause. Must watch episode.
Billions: American Champion (2019)
I'm a big fan but this episode was a bit disappointing
The story is getting a bit simplistic and this episode just wasn't fun. It's like they are purposefully trying to dumb things down.
I know this show is all about fun but this time it felt more stupid than funny.
Two nobodys trying to make a mountain out of a molehill for 90 minutes
I've never seen a more narcissistic person than the journalist of this story. It's like this was produced with the ulterior motive of letting people know who this guy was (though funnily I still don't remember his name after sacrificing precious 30 minutes of my life which I could have spent watching something better on Netflix).
Anyway so to make a long story short these two nobodys are just making a mountain out of a molehill for 90 minutes (thank god I stopped watching after 30). Its a total snoozefest for something boring that happened god knows how long ago.
Save your time and energy and watch something better instead.
Abducted in Plain Sight (2017)
You'll want to throw things at your TV
What the heck just happened. It was like the parents were asking for it.
It's wrong to blame people who have been had since everyone can act naive sometimes but this is just a whole new level of Stupid. The poor girl really had no chance.
This documentary is really stranger than fiction!
Holy Hell (2016)
Watch it with an open mind and remember there are always two sides of a story
I have never been near anything remote such as this so this documentary is totally baffling to me. Like the guy who was paying $50 to get raped by Michel doesn't make any sense to me.. but maybe that's what brainwashing and being in a cult does to you.
I once too decided to join the Osho ashram (even paid membership and got invited) but changed my mind at last second and documentaries like this help me realize how I may have dodged a bullet .
Anyway, even though the case is compelling I just want viewers to remember that there are always two sides to a story and we're only seeing one here. A lot of questions are also unanswered.
1. Why did the author go to Hawaii to help him settle?
2. Why hasn't anyone pressed charges yet?
3. Why do so many members stay with him still?
4. Why didn't the undercover person confront him and get him to admit something meaningful on camera?
5. Lastly I assume this is just brainwashing doing it to them, but did they really feel those things when the joined (the lights, etc)? That's some powerful trance state to go into without drugs.
6.and may more things..
Anyway I'm sure there are some very reasonable answers to all these questions but this would have been much more impactful film had Michel been indicted and behind bars.
BBT is coming to an end and every episode feels like the writers just want to get it over with. There is not much effort being put into making it funny. Just 2 3 jokes and some filler stuff. It's like they're happy with passing marks now that they know it's going to be over soon anyways.
The only reason I'm still watching it is because of the characters who I feel a small connection with because this show has been going on for so long. But there is nothing special about this show.
Good movie but please don't club woo-woo into alternative medicine
This movie has some truth into it. I am a big believer in mind-body and I think the "Mind body prescription" by Dr. John Sarno is one of the best and most ahead of its time books ever written. So I was quite happy to find this little gem.
The movie does a great job in showing that the mind is in fact the root of most illnesses. It is my personal belief that soon when enough people are educated about this topic, the doctors too will start focusing on the mind like they do on body and therefore ask about patient's mental health, stress and anxieties to make a complete diagnosis (not a partial one where they look at the body as a machine that can be fixed).
My problem with this movie is that as it progresses it starts mixing woo-woo with it and treats it at par with the theory that stress causes illness. Like there is a doctor who waives his hands around patients to diagnose them and then there is another one who just randomly spouts principles of quantum mechanics trying to connect it to medicine and people without any rhyme or reason.
This does a great disservice to the works of people like John Sarno who have been very scientific in their approach but instead get clubbed together with scam artists because movies like these can't distinguish science (the mind body theory) from the woo woo (e.g. the hand waving doctor).
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
Yapping at the hill house
The first few episodes were good hence the 6 stars. After that it was just yap yap yap. Maybe if you stop talking for a second the ghosts can get a chance too. I slept twice watching the last episode. Only the very brave can watch these talkathons.
Just like the Matrix this show shouldn't have 2 or 3rd part
Season 1 was pretty good. Good acting, drama, story. Even though it's a crime drama the story didn't require a whole lot of suspension of disbelief. It very much enjoyed season 1.
So no wonder I had some big expectations for 2nd season. But god it turned out to be so booorring. Nothing makes sense anymore. It feels as if the writers were forced to write this extension just so that the show can make some more money on its previous success.
In Time (2011)
This could have been the next Gattaca
What an amazing idea and the parallels between money and time very really executed well in the beginning. Unfortunately poor execution and terrible cast totally ruined it.
Justin Timberlake is a very bad actor and so is the lady who played daugher Weis. So unbelievable. Also after half-time it (as soon as the Weis' daughter entered) the movie suddenly lost its charm. It went from a good sci-fi to a B grade rom com. Why did the director do that?
This movie could have been so much more. The idea was so good it could have been the next Gattaca. But without a clear direction and inconsistent story line it fell way short.
