Alan Le May was a novelist, short-story writer and screenwriter, although today he may be best remembered for his novels which served as the basis for two classic westerns, A Desaparecida (1956) and O Passado Não Perdoa (1960). He started his career as a journalist before becoming a full-time author (he wrote 17 novels in all).
